Fourth Wall: Everquest posted by gaedan on May 23, 2003 03:40 PMPST

Fourth Wall's Everquest guild can be found on Tarew Marr and is led by Holt Ma'iingan.

Fourth Wall's humble beginnings are found in West Freeport, Anatonica, when a world-weary Gaedan Mentheren founded Norrath's goofiest ensemble of adventurers to date. Few names are not remembered among the host of those triumphant heores that returned to the local watering hole that would soon be called The Tavern of the Fourth Wall in Greater Faydark to confuse and frustrate the locals with shouts of 'Huzzah!'

Now, the Fourth Wall is a succesful guild of Tarew Marr, proud member of the Unnamed Alliance and home to many brave adventurers, all still single-minded in their pursuit of ale and whores.

Preface: With all these rules, circumstance and common sense prevail as a factor as well, giving us some room to employ subjective interpretation when necessary.

General Rules Of Conduct For The Fourth Wall

1. The Purpose of the Fourth Wall shall always be paramount. Namely, that we are here for the purpose of fun, fellowship, and Ale. Thus, at all times, the aim of the membership must be to have fun, to be mindful of their fellow player, and to consume mass quantities of alcoholic beverages.

2. We are a guild of equals, but there must always be those who administrate and lead to avoid complete chaos. Therefore, pay heed to the officers and their wishes. Respect all fellow guild members.

3. We believe in fair play. Therefore, we will not tolerate KSing, Camp stealing, Ninja Looting, intentional training, trade scamming, spamming of chat (ooc, auction, shout, /gu) channels, begging, or other forms of grief play from our members, and such action is grounds for removal. If any of these actions is performed on one of our members, it is grounds for blacklisting of the perpetrator and possible blacklisting of their guild as well.

4. Loot and Leveling are always of secondary importance to us in having fun. It is, however, perfectly fine to aspire to gaining these things. However, if you aspire to these goals at the cost of the hurt or shunning of your fellow guild mates, or at the obsession of these things above all else, it will be grounds for a reprimand and possible removal.

5. We are here to help each other. Whenever possible, if a guild member needs help, help them. HOWEVER, Realize that each guild member is their own person, and should not be roused from their own play for anything trivial. If you need a Teleport or a Resurrection, do ask in Guild chat, but if it would be overly hard for the Cleric, Druid, or Wizard, to get to you to assist, do not insist or become bitter. Begging for Loot or Powerlevelling is NOT Tolerated.

6. On the flip side of number 5, we are here to help each other. Therefore, whenever a guild mate is in trouble, stranded, has a lost or hard to reach corpse, or is otherwise in need of assistance, it should be the goal of every guild mate to help as much as they can. Abandoning a guild mate anywhere is not tolerated. If you must leave in the middle of a dungeon or a hunting session in a remote area, make sure ahead of time that they have an escape method. Never assume.

Rules Regarding Alternate Characters

1. Alternates will always be accepted into the guild. Of course, they must also follow the above rules.

2. For the Purpose of Raiding and acquiring of loot by the guild as a whole, Alternates will always be considered a distant second to all mains within the guild. It is not fair to any main to lose an item they could use in order to outfit a secondary character. It is completely your responsibility to outfit any alternate you choose to play. The only exceptions made for this may be if the alternate is bought on the raid as a fully contributing member in lieu of your main, if the alternate will SOON become your main, or if the alternate is being made/leveled with the blessing of the guild to fulfill a need within the guild.

Rules Regarding Miscellaneous Situations

1. Merchanting: Merchanting, the act of trying to trade up to better equipment by buying and selling in East Commons, is acceptable and fine. However, It is your endeavor, and yours alone. Do not expect your guild mates to help you close a deal. If you cannot make a deal with your own resources, do not make the deal. Do not demand that a guild member give up an item, even if you would pay them back. Also, Remember your reputation as a guild member. If the officers hear of or witness bad behavior (Including but not limited to possible scamming, not following through on deals, Spamming OOC/Shout with Price checks, etc), we will investigate and take disciplinary action if the situation merits.

2. Loans & Hand-downs: If a Guild Member decides to distribute extra Items to Guild members, this is acceptable and encouraged. However, the receivers should realize that this is a benevolent and sacrificing act and should be treated as such. Please treat loans or hand-me-downs with the respect and spirit in which they were given, as befits our rules.

Recruitment Policy

1. One or Two Sponsors bring a member up for consideration

2. Vote among the Officers give him/her the guildtag for the Preliminary Testing Period and Recruit status.

3. Preliminary Testing period with guildtag, in which member is watched, are they on enough? Do they follow the guild rules? after a period of 2 weeks, a vote is taken at the next general meeting.

4. Intention to take a vote will be announced ahead of time so no-shows can send in vote by E-mail if needed. If Vote the is yes, then the recruit becomes a full member with access to the Members Only section.

5. If there is even one "No" Vote, the "No" Voter is given a chance to explain themselves, and prospective member is put under review. Legitimate "No" Reasons could include, Doesn't seem to be around enough, Too concerned over loot (aka "lewt wh0re"), Not helpful/Using talents to help guild, etc.

Other notes: Although we will not necessarily outright forbid having alts in other guilds, Many of us are very wary of it. If you are going to join Fourthwall, you must be willing to spend a decent chunk of your on-line time with the wall, contributing to it. We do not appreciate anyone just being along for the ride, or slumming as it were.
