Membership in the Fourth Wall is often ill defined, and that is for a reason. One does not have clear cut requirements, level restrictions or time commitments on friendships, and that is what 4W strives for: becoming less of a "guild" and more of a group of friends. Membership is also ill-defined outside of the MMORPG genre: how does one donate membership in a group that plays Diablo or Half-Life? Now, take that sentiment and place it along side with the almost required attention to membership lists in a MMORPG guild, especially in a game like Everquest.
The Fourth Wall recognizes it's members by participation in a Fourth Wall game like DAOC or EQ. Currently, the standing custom is that that you have to have been tagged in game at sometime to have access to the Member's passwords, forums and resources. Membership in Fourth Wall is permanent, once Fourth Wall, always Fourth Wall. For games outside of the MMORPG genre, little is defined for Fourth Wall membership. As those games are best played, we take a rather open policy, since there are no hard and fast rules of economics that must be obeyed to enjoy a good time (as there are in MMORPGS).
